DOES YOUR JEWELLERY TARNISH??
UNDERSTANDING METALS AND MANAGING JEWELLERY EXPECTATIONS -
Hi Taimana Fam - here is some information on our Jewellery! We have many different types with different wearing times and different qualities (something for every need and budget) The metal is always listed in each product description.
The biggest question is always about longevity of your pieces, understanding the metals will help you understand what to expect.
WHAT IS REAL GOLD PLATED STERLING SILVER
Sterling silver is our top grade jewellery line, plated with 14k real gold. Sterling silver that is plated with gold has a much brighter effect than Stainless steel but is less durable.
Sterling silver is a precious metal so it is Also hypo-allergenic. We love a 14k plating instead of 18k as the colour is much prettier in appearance and a little lighter.
ANYTHING that is not solid gold but PLATED should be handled with care to ensure the life of the plating, avoiding contact with water and chemicals will help the jewellery keep its colour and shine for much longer.
WHAT IS REAL GOLD PLATED STAINLESS STEEL?
Taimana Boutique stainless steel is Lead and Nickel free and hypoallergenic, Meaning that this will not cause allergies. Stainless steel is extremely durable.
Our Stainless steel jewellery is plated with a double layer of 10k gold. Why 10k? We believe the colour is prettier - it’s not dark yellow but a lighter brighter gold. (Our custom stainless steel pieces are plated in 18k gold)
Stainless steel is a beautiful much more affordable option than Real gold. Real gold plated stainless steel jewellery gives you the option of having high quality at a lower price.
Over time plating can fade if not cared for correctly - this means avoiding contact with chemicals and perfumes. We choose to not wear our Jewellery in water to ensure it keeps it shine for longer.
WHAT IS REAL GOLD PLATED BRASS?
Brass with real gold plating allows a beautiful colour and a great price point, though this is NOT A forever piece, though the real gold plating puts this a step above other costume jewellery. You can ensure the longevity of your jewellery by avoiding water, perfume and excess sweat.
Brass is a mixture of Alloys, so if you have sensitive skin brass can be an irritant.
